Millie - Boho Island Casual

Newport Coast, Orange County Boutique Pique
By: Erin Hall @ Boutiquing

As if a front row view of the pacific ocean weren't enough reason to shop at The Crystal Cove Promenade in Newport Coast, Millie boutique gives you another reason to enjoy the resort shopping feeling. Like vacationing on a Greek Isle, Millie offers boho chic and beachy casual with everyday ease. Long and narrow, this boutique is filled with silk floral print tanks from Tea & Honey, tie dye Love TanJane dresses and a delightfully large selection of LUCKY Brand embroidered hoodies, flirty tees and bright ethnic tunics perfect for pairing with jeans or their variety of linen pants.

Being an "A" (I collect accessories like a madwoman! Find your "Letter" here - STYLE QUIZ) I love Millie because it offers so many bright colored and subtle neutral basics. I like the idea of basics because, 1 - they are timeless pieces and 2 - especially in this economy, I can buy one piece and get so many different looks using my jewelry and shoes. I was so excited to find a gunmetal grey tube jersey dress with an uneven hem line from parkvogel (a new contender for me in the ella moss, racheal pally arena of sexy comfort). I can wear the dress to the beach, an upcoming wedding, happy hour with the girls Thursday night and a romantic dinner with my boyfriend...Now THAT'S spending money wisely! (anything to justify...wink wink)

Included in the list of must see basics, beach sexy Susana Monaco jersey dresses and soft solids with an amazing fit from James Perse. Millie has one of the largest selections of Joe's Jeans I've seen in OC. Millie also carries crystal adorned Havaianas flip flops, colorful intimates, unique jewelry and soft leather handbags.

Just like the laid back feel of the center, I enjoyed Millie's manager Diana sales style. Diana was talkative and helpful enough to make me feel serviced while allowing me space to shop comfortably. Thank you Diana for a relaxed and enjoyable boutiquing experience.

Fields 4 Dreams - Dresses & Accessories Under $50!

San Clemente, Orange County Boutique Pique
By: April Madigan @ Boutiquing

A tip from a fellow boutiquer sent Erin and I on a quest to find Fields 4 Dreams boutique - well, thank you Ingrid for introducing us to this off the beaten path little treasure. Located just up from Del Mar in San Clemente, where the rent is cheaper, and in this case, the savings is passed on to the customer in BIG way, Fields 4 Dreams feels like a secret boutiquing spot where you have to know the right person to enter - aren't you glad you know us:) When we stopped in, Laura, the bubbly manager, was busy getting the place ready for their Friday night Girls Night Out. This is a monthly event at Fields 4 Dreams and the store offers fabulous fashion, free wine, and new friends to all who attend. Also offered, botox, by Adrian de la Torre of Neu Image - at just $9.00 a unit! (See his credentials at

Okay, so what did my boutiquing eyes find in this cozy little place? Among the incredible selection of accessories, necklaces, bangles, belts, scarves, clutches - all well under $30 bucks - were racks and racks of party inspiring dresses. Adorable striped halters and floral wrap dresses by Double Zero (under $50), maxi dresses by Catwalk Studios in tie-dye and the most versatile black tube maxi dress - perfect for piling on accessories...what can I say, I AM an "A". Erin strutted out in the perfect wide stretch belt adorned with a little feather flair, and the styish update ran her only $12.00. LOVE! But, seriously, even better than all the goodies, was the warm reception and personal attention we were given by the shopgirls here. They truly care about the experience each person has and dropped everything to help is clear why Fields 4 Dreams has so many regular repeat customers, and such great street cred!

Two more great things this boutique is, handing over your great new purchases in a black reusable cloth tote bag - the Earth thanks them... and two, they have a coloring corner for those who bring their kiddos...see Boutiquing Mom's (E)...some places GET IT!

Eric Hanan in Talega - 50% OFF Entire Boutique!

Review By: Erin
Bad News...Eric Hanan Boutique in San Clemente
is closing it's doors May 5th.
Good News...EVERYTHING at Eric Hanan Boutique is 50% OFF!

Are you thinking the name sounds familiar? That's because Eric Hanan is the prominent, internationally known, jewelry designer with a breath taking location in the Crystal Cove Promenade. Eric and his wife Marie-Rose, are the visionaries of this couture clothing and handcrafted jewels boutique in the Talega Village Center. Sadly just when I'm finding Eric Hanan, they're closing their doors. Side note... SUPPORT BOUTIQUES! I hate to see gems like this one going out of business!

Owner, Marie-Rose, has the perfect balance of knowledge and sass (I loved having her hand pick dresses for me :) and an impeccable eye for cutting edge European and American designers that you won't find any where else in OC. Eric Hanan is one of only two boutiques in California allowed to carry Sand, the structured and sexy Danish line from Copenhagen. You'll also find romantic and urban Cop.Copine. (means Girl. Girlfriend in French), gorgeous asymmetrical cocktail dresses by Robert Rodriguez and gem stone embellished Miss Me frocks and tops.

Don't miss the abundant selection of stylish mens clothing, also a jaw dropping 50% OFF. Unique blazers from Howe, edgy English Laundry shirts, rugged Monarchy denim and my fave... bright colored and metallic floral Apricot Tree shirts. Eric Hanan boutique has cute clutches, exquisite jewelry and perfectly cut jackets (I was wooed by a cream "Freelance" oversized button coat).

Don't play around, your time is limited, doors close May 5th!
Get down to Eric Hanan ASAP to take advantage of the remaining inventory...pieces this fabulous and this inexpensive will fly out the door! Tell Marie-Rose, April and Erin sent you in, she'll give you a big warm hug and show you a true boutiquing experience.

Mi Place - Experience and an Eye for Style

Newport Beach Boutique Pique
by: April Madigan @ Boutiquing

My first trip to the legendary Mi Place boutique in Newport, was so different than I expected. Typically I can sense the boutique vibe of a place on the walk from the car. Mi Place completely threw me for a loop. When I set foot inside this large, well established boutique, I immediately had the feeling that I was shopping in a stylists showroom. The range of designers housed in "this" place certainly added to boutiquing excitement.

Each piece I picked up thrilled me more than the last. There are knits from Missoni, blouses by Madison Marcus, the best dresses by Black Halo (and a long black jumpsuit that I died over...if I were 5'9", it would have been mine). There are numerous denim options as well - J Brand and Current/Elliot were the highlights. I couldn't leave without trying on the new torn up style Current/Elliot has become famous for - they are as amazing as everyone says by the way. While I was trying on, they were unpacking a new shipment of MiH denim, one of the hot new celebrity favorites, I was so pleased when they handed me a few styles in my size - gotta love a store that gives customers different options. Among the great clothing selection is a couture like collection of evening wear (most by Roberto Cavalli) and the greatest selection of statement jewelry - if you have an event coming up, get styled here!

The best part of this boutique experience was the personal attention I received from co-owner Iris. Talk about a woman who knows how to style up an outfit. She wore her Current/Elliots with the chicest pair of ankle boots and great white shirt - the woman oozes fashion. And for good reason, she and her business partner Mary (also sister-in-laws) have owned their boutiques for 35 years! Read their story here. I am thinking they might be on to something here...and double bonus for the fact that they were BOTH in the store and helping their customers like no one else can!

Spring Bling & Pamper Me Party Photos

By: Erin.. (I'm on the right :)

The only way to explain the day was...
"I LOVE my life!"
If you didn't make it to The Spring Bling
and Pamper Me Party

at the Renaissance SportClub
in Aliso Viejo,
putting it mildly

We were pampered up, down, right, left and sideways before we even stepped in the door! Red carpet entry, photos by 944 Magazine, graham cracker rimmed "Coco Puff" martinis, head boppin' beats, sun kissed models walking around in the latest fashion trends, shoes and hair styles, waiters serving chilled champagne, baseball size white chocolate dipped strawberries and exquisite orchid and rose floral arrangements from Elegant by Design florist dazzled my eyes and taste buds at this ultra stylish event.

Talk about coordinated and designed for the ultimate sensory experience. If the party were a car, it would be a super charged Boutiquing V-12 with chrome rims and leather seats! Silk tops and dresses from Elle H, statement jewelry from The Passionate Collector, sexy reversible aprons from Kitchen Couture (let them turn your ugly bridesmaid dresses into adorable aprons), one of a kind maxi dresses from The Black Flamingo, stylish workout gear from Powder Blue Productions, affordable tanks from Angels N' Vixens and stunning bandeau and gold ring swimsuits by Kai La Mare were just a few of the amazing vendors that captivated our attention for hours.

Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU to Renaissance SportClub Marketing Director Amanda Thomas and Christy Pacella, owner of The Black Flamingo Boutique (famous for styling the "Laguna Beach" TV show icons and "The Real Housewives of OC"). These two women created an esthetically gorgeous environment and a most memorable day. Any event these two put their hands on... I will be there with no less than 10 friends!

C. I don't carry one - I like to have my hands free.
D. Under $50.
E. By purse you mean diaper bag, right? are your results....drum roll please....

Mostly A's:

You pride yourself in your personal style. You are willing to try anything once, but typically stick with basics with style and collect accessories like a madwoman. You have never met a vintage store you didn't love and are not concerned with who makes the piece as long as it is unique. You should be frequenting Patina, LF Stores, The Hive, Red Balloon, goat, The Black Flamingo and Blue Eyed Girl.

Mostly B's:

Chic, classic, and always put together. Your closet is filled with pieces that will go the distance, and you have been known to buy multiples of your staples. You are always aware of what the current trend is, but few make their way into your regular wardrobe. You should be stalking Twice the Style, their inventory of designer goods is increasing in direct relation to the economy. Also check out Shopgirls by Lisa & Helen, ENVY Boutique, Laguna Supply, H. Laguna Beach and LANIS boutique for great designer shoe options.

Mostly C's:

Hey party girl! You love shopping with the girls, especially before a big night out. You know what works for your body and are not afraid to show it off. Your closet is filled with color and you love a great pair of heels you can dance in. No sleepy lounges for you, you need a loud beat and a party atmosphere. Before your next night out swing by Randy, La Diva, Duo, Queen Bee, Tootsies for rockin' heels and H. Laguna Beach if you want to invest in the hottest event dresses.

Mostly D's:

You thrive on the ever changing worlds of celebrity style. You would love to hang out at Coffee Bean with Perez and dish about what celebs are doing and wearing. You are a style chameleon and are always the first to wear a trend. You don't want to spend a lot on your clothes, since you will be on to the next thing before you know it. Check out Muse, Blue Eyed Girl, Tres Chic, Two Fifty Four, Tootsies and Girl Talk!, for reasonable options that will quench trendy thirst.

Mostly E's:

Obviously you are a Mom on the go. It's not that you don't want to have style, it's just I change my clothes or feed the dog? Function is first, style is second. You have a uniform that works, and on rare boutiquing trips, you look for pieces that pass the carpool test, you know, nothing too young, nothing uncomfortable, and certainly nothing my kids would wear!
If you can believe it, many boutiques cater to YOU! Check out The Red Balloon (for you and the kiddos), and don't miss their warehouse! Also Blue Eyed Girl, Sienna Brown, and UNA, for casual, comfortable basics that work for everyday.

fringe by Dali - Affordable Modern Vintage

Huntington Beach, Orange County Boutique Pique
By: Erin Hall @ Boutiquing

Like a Salvador Dali painting, hundreds of pages from fashion magazines are splashed along the walls of Dali Boutique in Dana Point (and Huntington Beach) to create an inspiring and dreamlike exhibition. I've always wanted a vintage vanity set, like a scene from an old movie I imagine myself getting ready like Hollywood beauties from the golden age. Dali gives me THAT feeling, but modern (which is so much more my style), with rich red damask wall paper, white lattice wall dividers, shiny silver hangers, large feather bouquets, army green shag carpet rounds and ornate quilted velvet button back chairs. Instantly I imagined every style of fashionista, from Katy Perry to the Gossip Girls, getting ready in this sassy boutique.

Dali offers a treasure box of choices your personal style AND wallet will love! Geometric patterned tops by Ice Vanilla, Stylish drape neck basics by Rainbow, Boho embroidered tops by B.Tru and a wide selection of girlie and romantic silk pieces from Collective Concepts...shockingly most under $50! Although a small selection, Dali has some adorable cocktail/event dresses from bold and beautiful Trina Turk and funky Betsey Johnson...the ruffles and sequins screamed look at me!

I've always been a fan of Dali's jewelry. I have an pair of ornate gold and large lavender tear drop chandeliers I purchased there two years ago. I have yet to wear them without getting several compliments but don't worry about causing too much trouble, my coveted earrings were $26 :)

Much to my delight, Dali has added a hand picked vintage section. The owners who are seasoned experts in the fashion industry have a great eye for one of a kind pieces that are very wearable today. You can't drive by Dali's window (in the Ocean Ranch Center) without seeing a jaw dropping scene of mannequins oozing modern vintage style. So next time you hit Trader Joe's, stop in Dali for basics and originals that will leave feeling stylish and ecstatic without the guilt.

Lucky Owl - Local Loot that Gives a Hoot

Santa Ana Boutique Pique
By: April Madigan @ Boutiquing

As an OC Mom, I have made many trips to both the Discovery Science Museum and The Santa Ana Zoo (both great get out of the house outings), and each time I head to Santa Ana I longingly gaze...well glance...I AM driving...over at the incredible new development of live/work lofts across Main Street from Main Place Mall. Who doesn't dream of having a 3 story loft, complete with it's own storefront, in the most adorable and stylish up and coming center?

Lucky Owl owner, Lisa, is living that dream. She opened her Lucky Owl about a year ago, and stocks this small, yet easy to shop boutique with earth friendly accessories created by local artists. The store itself feels sleek and uncluttered, and considering the amount of jewelry on display, very personal. Among the many things that caught my eye were, intricate wire wrapped rings with charms by local designer Kara Riggs, statement making Swarovski crystal bangles by Avant Garde (designed here and manufactured in Paris), and a remarkable selection of classic bangles by Alex & Ani. Lisa also designs and sells her own line of crystal soy candles and embellished tanks. She also stocks great travel pouches and totes by Go Go Gear, and the healing aromatherapy line, Buddha Nose.

In addition to being one of the coolest spaces I've been in, they often host everything from art shows, to photo shoots, to free yoga classes on the second floor. If you, like me, long to have a peek inside these ultra hip spaces, this would be the chance. Lisa also shared that Lucky Owl hosts an open house the first Friday of every month, they offer live music, extended hours (7-10pm), and what sounds like a great time. On a side note - Lisa's daughter, Keila, sings in a band called Streetlight Affair, and she sang a bit for my 3 year old daughter, Chloe. Chloe is convinced she should be on American Idol and I must agree, and tell you - if they are playing Friday night - BE THERE!

All in all this is a perfect place to stop by after a kiddo trip to the museum or zoo - you know you deserve to have a little Mommy side trip - and they are super friendly to kids!
