Corona Del Mar, Orange County Boutique Pique By: Erin @ Boutiquing
Welcome the new Bohemia Boutique in Corona Del Mar! This corner boutique clearly exemplifies the Bohemia life. I looked up the word Bohemia and found it refers to a group of people whose way of life, dress, etc are generally unconventional or avant-garde (characterized by unorthodox and experimental methods). Located off PCH next to Chronic Tacos and behind Blooms flower stand, Bohemia boutique is a mixture of artsy emphasis and subtle beach accents in it's clothing and decor. Randomly placed framed surf photos, ornate baroque cabinets, drift wood jewelry bars, over stuffed chairs and great prices... you can afford "experimental methods" with all the latest fashion trends.
Casual and cute tees from Love Tree and "A" is Audrey, bright and beautiful Collective Concepts frocks and tops, organic and subtle pieces from Trinity, Piko 1988 and Molly New York dresses will have you flipping through the racks multiple times. Perfectly cut in every "now" style jackets from Lush (all under $100) and boho chic dresses from S-Twelve gave me a feeling of a fresh and flirty. Find Free People, Jack by BB Dakota, Lush, Celebrity Pink, Ray Bans & YSL sunglasses.
To all our "D"s, you "Daring Dabblers" (take the "What Style Are You?" Quiz to find your "Letter" here) you will go crazy for Bohemia boutiques selection of purses. Purses, purses and more purses from snakeskin and gold rings to zippers and brilliant metallics, this boutique makes it possible for a handbag whore to help herself to inexpensive expression. Get mesmerized by necklaces dangling from driftwood racks, rings a plenty and bangles begging to be stacked. After you fall in love with Bohemia, make sure and meet her older sister, Caffe Balboa boutique on Balboa Peninsula. Known for consistently bringing in new merchandise every week, you can count on this boutiquing sisterhood to always have your back covered!

On a quaint side street off the beaten path of downtown Laguna Beach is the teeny tiny aptly named children's boutique "Little". Almost hidden by a towering tree out front - one that begs for a tree house to teeter in it's branches, this store is packed with all of the "I dressed myself" gusto we Mom's and Dad's love to jokingly roll our eyes at. Truth be told, I love the carefree passion of dressing my kids as though every color in the crayon box "goes" together. My favorite outfits are not precious or serious, but frivilous and full of imagination. Little boutique stocks all the makings for a fun and fancy ensemble.
Laundry lines dangle darling vintage inspired tees from above, and every surface is covered in mini versions of the best trends around. Color pops off every rack and clothing ranges from first born to 12 and covers little girls and guys alike. Although the focus lies mostly in adding fun to our "little" ones closets, there are also tons of books, games, and accessories lined up and ready to make a stylish scene as the best birthday gift in the bunch or that perfectly practical and pretty present for the family to be.
From hoodies and tees to the best sundresses and sweaters, bring your little ones into Little and let their colorful imaginations go wild. Just don't be too surprised if your aspiring stylist starts coming home telling tales of copycat fashion trends running rampant on her playground. Assure her that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and take another quick trip into Little to keep her ahead of the curve.

Picnic’s sunny yellow-and-white striped awning and funky, colorful window display are great clues to what’s in store (ha!). The store, which occupies a petite space on Polk Street, sells apparel, jewelry and accessories (handbags, hats and scarves, NuBras) as well as home décor. The ambience is kitschy and cute, with glowing lamps highlighting platters and bowls full of knickknacks; the vibe is youthful, with brands like Free People, BCBGirls, To The Max, Tulle, LA Made and She-bible.
On my visit, I fell for a chunky knit shrug in dark gray (with attached rhinestone brooch!) by Dex and vibrant cobalt silk shell by Kersh. Thumbing through the racks, I imagined pairing a voluminous black She-bible mini dress with a cropped winter white wool jacket by Kersh. All of the jewelry at Picnic is made by local designers, including Yukako Ezoe, Zachary Pryor, blue wild indigo and more. The offerings range from carved plastic rings in bright hues, to wood and Lucite bangles, dangly feather earrings and multi-chain necklaces—all fun and fresh.
I’m a sucker for candles and home fragrances, and Picnic has a surprisingly generous selection of both—primarily in the Pacifica line, one of my favorites, with most items falling under $30. Picnic’s got a perennial sale section (bins and racks) in the back, which can be a bit haphazard, but if you’re willing to dig, you can find some killer deals.
Verdict: head on over to Picnic on your lunch hour—it’s a bite-sized, lunch-hour-long boutique with some satisfying snacks.

Belle Cose, which means “beautiful things” in Italian, is the perfect name for this boutique: it is indeed full of so many beautiful things I almost never walk out empty-handed. Located in one of three neighboring storefronts that connect on the interior, Belle Cose seamlessly transitions to Molte Cose (“many things”), a men’s boutique and vintage boutique with women’s fashion and household items, both of which are located in the two adjacent spaces.
Two things set Belle Cose apart from the rest. The first is its retro, romantic vibe. There are usually a few vintage pieces in the store, but most of the stock is new and vintage-inspired, with lots of ladylike, ultra-feminine pieces. From lacy lingerie to fitted cardigans and classic sheath dresses, Belle Cose is my go-to spot for frilly, girly things reminiscent of eras past.
The second distinction: great prices. I’ve often recognized other women from the neighborhood in here over the years, and it’s because Belle Cose is the kind of boutique you’d be just as likely to pop into on a walk as you might plan a special trip to look for something specific and unique. Either way, you’re likely to come out with something beautiful whether you’ve planned the trip or not, and whatever your budget.
Vintage wardrobes with their doors flung open wide hung collections of sheer blouses, tailored jackets and button-up boots, with pieces from Only Hearts, OnGossamer, Effie’s Heart (a Bay Area designer), BB Dakota and Nick & Mo. Felina, Betsey Johnson and Mary Green (a local San Francisco designer) lingerie hangs neatly along the wall, and scattered artfully across an upholstered vanity bench. Retro shoe picks from Very Volatile, Two Lips and Restricted appear atop vintage bureaus and alongside carefully arranged lingerie, jewelry, and fancy soaps. The effect is charming and inviting, as though you’ve just wandered into an elegant boudoir with an attentive staff who’s been expecting you all along.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit, that after living in Orange County for 10 years, April and I both recently visited Balboa Island for the first time. Don't laugh, we really thought it was an "island" and questioned...are we REALLY going boutiquing on an island!? Well the joke was happily on us as we found several bountiful boutiquing blisses on Balboa Island, including 5 Seas Boutique.
5 Seas on Balboa Island had me from the moment we stepped up the white stairs and in the front door. All you need is a gorgeous Diane von Furstenburg dress prominently positioned in your entry way and I'm yours. 5 Seas is a perfect blend of beach and chic. Sea foam blue walls create the perfect back drop for ornate white closet cut outs dripping with designer digs. Structured and sexy styles of Susana Monaco, sequin slouchy tanks from Alice & Olivia and silk Jay Godfrey dresses ensure an effortlessly enticing ensemble. Walls of Citizens of Humanity and Genetic denim are an obvious companion to the multiple styles of Ella Moss, T-Bags frocks and Splendid basics. Trina Turk dresses and timeless black pants make 5 Seas a great stop for solid and stunning staples.
If you've never tried a Maria Bianca Nero dress on before, visit 5 Seas on Balboa Island for a vast sampling of this most amazing line. Created with a built in corset, Maria Bianca Nero dresses are well worth the price tag with the most figure flattering fit you'll find. 5 Seas has one of the best selections of DVF (Diane von Furstenburg) we've seen in a boutique. Ruffled v-neck, wrap, sheer, silhouette, floral and solid...you'll find DVF dresses and tops in styles suitable for corporate to cocktails and everything in between.
Enjoy the comfortable atmosphere at 5 Seas while shopping natural gem stone creations from Trish Becker jewelry. This gorgeous line of earrings, necklaces and bracelets are the perfect addition to any outfit for a touch of subtle sexiness. 5 Seas also carries handbags, shoes and accessories, whether your looking for a gift or to complete an overall look, visit Balboa Island and see this chic island boutique.
